Undoubtedly one of the highlights of last year's Gig was the weird,
yet wonderful, Union Avenue. With some of the finest musicians gleaned
from across Scotland, Union Avenue play least expected cover versions
of popular songs in the style of Johnny Cash during his early years
of the 1950s. From Pink Floyd to The Stones and Bob Marley to Creedence,
Union Avenue make these songs sound like they were written by, or
for, Johnny Cash.
The band has recorded an album in Blackpool this year, under Raucous
Records label, which is due out late summer. Dave said, "We were

GERRY
JABLONSKI
Gerry Jablonski Guitar / Vocals
Gerry Jablonski is a ledandary Guitar player from Aberdeen and has
fronted various renowned local bands over the years. After two years
and two albums with his latest band 'Kloth Monkey', Gerry has decided
to take a break from band life and concentrate and consolidate his
solo career. Performing all over Scotland on a never-ending tour is
Gerry's passion and he has now become institutionalised at Glassel
and wouldn't know where else to play at the end of summer! Gerry's
solo material expresses his singer songwriter side while still maintaining
the rocky edge that he is famous for, so he hopes to please fans of
his earlier work while introducing a new ballad style.

FIONA KEENAN

From Dublin, Ireland, comes Fiona Keenan, a singer song-writer of
wonderful original Folk Music. Fiona has been playing for 5 years

for excelling in her craft. Celtic Connections festival recently asked
Fiona to play and she has a string of C.D.'s put out on her very own

Fiona has been mainly compared to Joni Mitchel, but her influences
stretch from the world of Folk into Jazz and back again, providing
an irresistible mix of thoughtful lyrics and very diverse guitar riffs.
Fiona said of being chosen to play at Glassel "It's good to be

LE RENO AMPS
Al Nero Guitar /
Vocals
Scott Maple Guitar / Vocals
Le Reno Amps are a couple of magic guys that just want to have fun.
Chosen to play Glassel for the very first time, but no strangers to
the stage, Al and Scott have been together for two years and have
been playing all over Scotland as well as performing in London. They
describe their music as Alternative Country / Punk and have been compared
to 'Simon and Garfunkel on Acid'. But, their influences maybe say
more about their music than anything else. With artists as diverse
as Leonard Cohen, The Pixies, David Byrne, Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash,
Prince and The Violent Femes spinning in their brains, Al and Scott
produce a strange hybrid of sound and excellent lyrics. They have
supported Sons and Daughters and The Stranglers and play the Lemon
Tree's 'Johnny Cash Tribute Night' on 11th September. Scott said,
"We just love playing and love festivals, so we're looking forward
to a fun time!" Le Reno Amps will have a new C.D. for sale at
the Gig.
